Before You Register (Required Read)

Before You Register

We’re excited you’re here. Before you reserve a seat, please read the requirements below—this is the fastest way to avoid delays, reschedules, and last-minute stress.

1) Licensing + laws (Student Responsibility)

It is the student’s responsibility to research and follow the laws and licensing requirements where you plan to work.
We train students from all 50 states (and sometimes internationally), so regulations can vary by state, county, and country.

AAC provides training—not a license. Your ability to legally perform services depends on your local rules, applications, and approvals. (When in doubt, contact your local Health Department / Environmental Health office.)

2) Georgia note (for students planning to work in Georgia)

In Georgia, body art procedures (including tattooing and microblading) are regulated through Georgia DPH, and artists must meet state certification requirements. Georgia Department of Public Health+1
Georgia’s Body Art rules also state that body art must be performed by individuals holding the appropriate certification/permit in a permitted studio. Georgia Department of Public Health

Important: If you are coming to train in Georgia but plan to work in another state, you must follow the rules where you will actually practice.

3) Pre-course work (Required for ALL programs)

All AAC programs include required pre-course work so you arrive prepared and ready to work.

Plan to spend about 3–5 days completing your pre-course items prior to your start date (some students finish faster; some take longer).

4) Certifications included in pre-course (and additional costs)

As part of your pre-course requirements, you will complete:

  • Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) – tattoo/body art specific

  • First Aid

  • CPR

Georgia’s DPH guidance for Body Artist Certification lists BBP, First Aid, and CPR as required documentation. Georgia Department of Public Health

Cost: These are completed through third-party providers and typically cost about $20–$40 each depending on the provider you choose (example: Red Cross BBP for tattoo artists is listed at $35). American Red Cross

If you already have BBP: It must be tattoo/body art specific (not a generic cosmetology/medical-only course). American Red Cross+1

Submission: After registration, you’ll receive access instructions and will upload your completed certificates to your student portal (or as directed by AAC). (Your documents should be current and not close to expiration—DPH guidance notes training documents should not expire within 6 months of application submission.) Georgia Department of Public Health

5) Models are required (and this is how it works)

Many AAC courses require live models.

Model responsibility: Models are ultimately the student’s responsibility to secure. Academy Of Advanced

Out-of-town students: If you’re traveling from outside the area (about 30+ minutes away), we can help guide you on how to find models, but you must show effort first.

Proof of effort (required for help):

  • A screenshot of your model post(s) in Facebook groups

  • A screenshot of your Instagram/Facebook story post

  • A screenshot of messages sent to potential models

Why we require effort: If you can’t market for a model, you’ll struggle marketing for clients. We will support you—but you must participate.

Note: AAC may approve or reject a model for health/safety reasons. Academy Of Advanced

6) Payments, deposits, and deadlines

  • Your deposit reserves your seat and is non-refundable. Academy Of Advanced+1

  • Your remaining balance is due 7 days (1 week) prior to the first day of class.

  • If the balance is not paid by the deadline, your seat may be released and your deposit may be forfeited. Academy Of Advanced+1

7) Transfers / reschedules

We understand life happens.

  • Transfers must be requested at least 7 days prior to your start date.

  • Transfers are allowed one time (subject to availability).

  • A transfer fee of $250 applies

  • Late requests may result in forfeiting the deposit.

8) Apprenticeship-specific expectations (clinic blocks)

Apprenticeship programs include everything in the certificate “boot camp,” plus additional hands-on clinic blocks where you work with more models and get more individualized coaching.

AAC apprenticeship pages describe clinic block schedules and note that clinic dates may be released based on the program structure and payment status. Academy Of Advanced

9) Proprietary training materials (important)

AAC course materials are proprietary. This includes manuals, videos, slides, online training content, and handouts.

Students may not copy, record, resell, share, or post AAC materials (online or offline) without written permission. Academy Of Advanced

10) Extra “must-know” notes (recommended additions)

Age requirements: Many body art rules require artists be at least 18, and Georgia rules restrict tattooing minors. Georgia Department of Public Health+1

Tattoo removal: Georgia’s body art rules restrict tattoo removal to licensed medical professionals / GA licensed cosmetic laser practitioners. If you plan to offer removal, you must confirm your legal scope where you’ll work. Georgia Department of Public Health

No income guarantees: Training is education—results depend on practice, compliance, and business execution. Academy Of Advanced
